Young drivers 'paying too much for insurance'

Car insurance premiums for young drivers are over-inflated at present.

Teenagers are facing costs that mean owning a motor is unsustainable for many of them.

In order to address this situation, a lot of insurers are offering black box - or pay how you drive - deals to incentivise them to show greater care when behind the wheel.

The AA is one such company and it hopes the scheme will make people much safer on the roads.

Simon Douglas, director of AA Insurance, stated: "The best new drivers could see their first year's premium halved, taking into account both their no-claim and good driving bonus."

He added good education is necessary in order to ensure youngsters practice sensible measures when driving.

Mr Douglas continued by saying there is always room for improvement and the new systems will be gender neutral in order to encourage everyone to consider how they operate a vehicle.ADNFCR-2576-ID-801393589-ADNFCR
