Volvo has announced price and specification details for its upcoming S60 and V60 Cross Country models. These new off-road oriented models slot above the standard S60 saloon and V60 estate and offer a substantial 65mm in extra ride height, along with the option of four-wheel drive, giving them added all-terrain ability.

According to Volvo, these new models blend the best of a comfortable driving experience and sporty on-road handling with rugged design details and the ability to cross challenging terrain.

Most affordable of the new models is the two-wheel drive V60 Cross Country D3 FWD SE at £30,195, with V60 prices rising up to £38,025 for the four-wheel drive D4 AWD Geartronic Cross Country Lux Nav automatic.

The S60 Cross Country on the other hand is only available in high-specification D4 form, starting at £33,695 for the two-wheel drive D4 Cross Country Lux Nav and setting buyers back £36,725 for the four-wheel drive D4 AWD Geartronic Cross Country Lux Nav automatic.

An efficient new four-cylinder diesel motor will feature in the two-wheel drive Cross Country variants, with the four-wheel drive models sticking to Volvo’s proven five-cylinder engine.

Along with added ground clearance, these Cross Country models gain skid plates front and rear, side scuff plates and bumper extenders for a butch look and extra off-road protection. Other new design features include gloss black window trim and door mirrors plus unique alloy wheels and a new front grille.

Production of the new cars will begin in May with UK deliveries of the new S60 and V60 Cross Country models expected to start in June.
