Owners of particular Volvo and Audi cars can expect to see the lowest level of depreciation if they decide to sell their vehicles on.

Volvo XC60 models sold in 2010 declined by just eight per cent on average, according to Parkers Top 100 Performers of 2010, which is equivalent to a loss of just £2,065.

The Volvo cars made seventh on the list, which was compiled according to the amount cash lost rather than losses as a proportion of the original vehicle cost.

Audi Q5 cars also performed well, losing just nine per cent of their value (£2,189) on average in 2010.

Other high performers in the value stakes are Volkswagen cars, with the Polo model making fourth on the list with a loss of just £1,987 in 2010.

Last year also saw smart cars carrying the Fortwo coupe label performing well, appearing at 15th with a 33 per cent decline in value at resale (£2,292).ADNFCR-2576-ID-800359236-ADNFCR
