Volkswagen Beetle 'has the retro cool factor'

The new Volkswagen Beetle has been given the stamp of approval by Richard Hammond.

He recently test drove the vehicle and praised the retro coolness of the motor in his Mirror column.

It means anyone seeking a mobile and nippy Volkswagen car may want to give some serious consideration to the Beetle, which was relaunched in 1998.

Of the vehicle's fascia, the Top Gear presenter said it "not only looks nice, [but] everything is simple to use", while it can also be fitted with a Fender audio system.

This means drivers can listen to Jimi Hendrix in a machine made by the company who created the musical maestro's guitars.

In terms of design, Hammond remarked it throws together different parts of various Volkswagen cars.

He continued by saying the Beetle is "wider, longer and lower" than the previous versions of the model and so it is much more aesthetically pleasing.ADNFCR-2576-ID-801349981-ADNFCR
