Suzuki Baleno makes a comeback

Suzuki’s five-door hatchback is making a comeback, as the brand strives to make a presence in the compact hatchback market.

The refreshed and revived Baleno will make its debut at the 66th IAA Frankfurt Motor Show later this year. It follows on from the preview of the iK-2 concept shown at the Geneva Motor Show, with the full production version set to hit UK showrooms in 2016.

In order to stand a chance in an increasingly competitive segment, the new Baleno has been designed to combine a stylish design with a spacious interior and the latest equipment, in order to provide a versatile user-friendly hatch for small and large families alike.

Suzuki claims the new Baleno will feature the latest gadgets and gizmos, with new technologies including the first application of the newly Suzuki-developed 1.0-litre Booster Jet turbocharged petrol engine, which saves fuel without compromising performance or driving dynamics.

In addition to fulfilling high fuel efficiency and dynamic performance expectations, the layout has been optimised to reduce the vehicle’s overall weight, helping to meet the rigorous size and weight requirements specific to compact cars – this means the new model is likely to lack any similarities with its predecessor of the 1990s.

The Baleno will be launched in the UK early next summer, with further specification details and prices to be announced at the Suzuki press conference at the Frankfurt Motor show on Tuesday 15th September 2015. Until then, Suzuki has provided us with a few sneak peeks at what we can expect to see in a month’s time.
