Rugby officials in Leinster will continue to drive Subaru cars after the Japanese manufacturer extended its sponsorship deal.

Subaru Ireland's managing director Neville Matthews said that the period of sponsorship had been very successful for the company.

"We have found that during our association with the Leinster Referees and rugby in general, awareness of the Subaru brand has increased dramatically," he said.

He added the firm was proud to be associated with Leinster referees, who work tirelessly up and down the region as they carry out their official duties.

The official will now have the option of taking a diesel vehicle after the manufacturer added the more economic fuel to its range, Mr Neville pointed out.

This deal marks a continued partnership between Irish rugby and Subaru, after the Rugby League Ireland agreed a two-year lease deal with the manufacturer for three Forester cars back in October 2009.ADNFCR-2576-ID-19920534-ADNFCR
