Subaru cars could come to the rescue this winter

Subaru cars may prove crucial in helping to get drivers out of trouble over the winter months, as owners are given practical advice on how to lend a hand.

Backed by the AA, Subaru is giving advice on how Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive vehicles can be used to tow snow-bound front and rear-wheel drive cars safely and efficiently.

Among the tips are that the transmission of the towed vehicle should be left in neutral and the steering wheel left unlocked.

The front wheels of the car should also be pointed in the direction of travel, although this may be hard to notice in especially deep snow.

Marketing director of Subaru UK Kenyon Neads said: "We know our customers have less to fear than most from the snow and ice that winter brings, but we want to help them respond to appeals for rescue in the safest way possible."

He added that many drivers will no doubt find themselves in difficult situations when snow starts to fall.ADNFCR-2576-ID-801239367-ADNFCR
