Speed limiters can recue fuel costs by nearly 40%

Fuel costs for fleets could be reduced by up to 40 per cent with the use of a speed limiter.

This is according to research by Cobra, which saw motors capped at a top speed of 56 mph.

It highlights how technology can effectively bring down overheads and the company stated with the right driver, this figure could be improved upon.

Managing director of Cobra UK Andrew Smith observed vehicles that are "regularly driving on motorways, dual carriageways and A and B roads should see an impressive reduction in fuel running costs".

If motorists set the limiter at 70 mph, Mr Smith remarked savings of between 15 and 20 per cent are still possible.

Making savings on fuel costs is particularly important at the moment because of the expense associated with filling up a vehicle, which is set to get worse when fuel duty is increased by three pence in August.  ADNFCR-2576-ID-801378462-ADNFCR
