Skynyrd tops driving song poll

Drivers of approved used cars reach for the Lynyrd Skynyrd album as soon as the sun comes out, according to new research.

A poll by vehicle information company HPI has established that the band's best-known single Sweet Home Alabama is the most popular driving song for the summer.

Fifty-two per cent of those surveyed marked it as a favourite track for summer motoring, while 49 per cent enjoy the smiley-happy Walking on Sunshine by Katrina and the Waves.

Nicola Johnson, consumer services manager for HPI, said: "It seems like summer is a time for the good old classics, rather than whatever ray of sunshine the charts may be producing.

"Our top 10 is dominated by songs from the 60s, 70s and 80s."

HPI recently warned that the imminent change to the vehicle registration form may prompt a rise in the number of criminals attempting to sell cloned cars in the short term. ADNFCR-2576-ID-800031181-ADNFCR
