The latest Skoda car to hit the market will be called the Rapid.

One of the most eagerly anticipated Skoda cars of recent times, it will make its European debut before the end of 2012.

Chief executive officer of the firm Winfried Vahland observed the vehicle is of "central importance for our growth and will provide us with a strong tailwind on international markets".

He added it is part of the largest-ever "model offensive" undertaken by the manufacturer as it looks to capture a greater share of the corporate sector.

Mr Vahland continued by saying the company is keen to bring a new motor to market every six months in the coming years.

The Rapid is perfect for families and will fit in nicely between the Fabia and Octavia in terms of its range.

In the first quarter of 2012, nearly 14,000 registrations were recorded by Skoda, which builds on the 45,000 vehicles shipped in 2011. ADNFCR-2576-ID-801346605-ADNFCR
