Volkswagen has begun taking orders on its all-new sixth generation Transporter in both panel van and passenger carrying combinations.

With prices for the panel van starting at £23,440 and the Caravelle from £30,165, the Transporter is offered in a wide range of body and engine choices.

The Transporter comes with a range of economical new engines, including a 2.0-litre diesel motor capable of achieving 47.1mpg. This is thanks to the use of Volkswagen BlueMotion technology, which includes low rolling resistance tyres and start stop technology which automatically cuts the engine when stopped in order to save fuel.

This new, sixth-generation Transporter can be specified in either long or short wheelbases, as well as one of three roof heights.

With the launch comes the announcement of a special edition Transporter, the ‘Generation Six’. This comes with two-tone white and red paint, designed to hark back to the earlier generations of Transporter. It comes with a 2.0-diesel engine and an automatic gearbox.

With a rear view camera and a driver alert system, the Transporter is also a very safe place to be. The Caravelle is able to seat up to seven people in this safety and can even be specified with Volkswagen’s four wheel drive system. The Transporter shuttle, in contrast, can seat up to nine people in comfort, whilst still keeping a large load bay for luggage.

The Caravelle is offered in two trim levels, ‘SE’ and ‘Executive’, whilst the Shuttle comes in ‘S’ and ‘SE’ trim levels with each offering different levels of technological features.
