New Skoda Superb Estate offers even more space

The Skoda Superb Estate has always been one of the biggest estate cars on the market, but the new model boasts an even more cavernous boot, along with best-in-class passenger space.

Skoda has also seen fit to give this range-topper more upmarket styling and boosted comfort levels inside for a more luxurious feel. Safety and in-car tech have been brought up to date too, while those needing to carry large loads should struggle to fill the mammoth boot, which extends to nearly 2,000 litres in size with the rear seats folded down and 660 litres with all seats in place.

With the axles moved 80mm further apart than its predecessor – with the wheelbase standing at 2,841mm – and front and rear tracks made wider, Skoda has freed up an extra 39mm of elbow space for driver and front passenger and 70mm for those in the rear. Meanwhile, headroom front and rear bests rivals, while the Superb Estate offers nearly twice the rear knee room of its closest competitor.

Economy in the new model also jumps over the previous version, with economy gains of up to 30- per cent from updated engines which now meet EU6 emissions standards. In-car tech is also more sophisticated than before, with the Superb Estate offering smartphone connectivity through MirrorLink, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto software. The car will also be available with the option of a high-speed internet connection.

The new Superb Estate is available to order from June with the first models arriving with customers in September.
