New Peugeot 308 revealed for September debut

Peugeot has announced the new 308, a "completely new" version of the family hatchback first produced in 2007.

The manufacturer claims the new car, which is set to debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, is poised to "revitalise the brand's position in the ultra-competitive, compact family hatchback segment".

A range of petrol and diesel engines will be available, with certain configurations achieving CO2 emissions as low as 85 g/km. Compared with the previous generation, the vehicle's weight has been reduced by an average of 140 kg - further contributing to increased fuel efficiency.

In what Peugeot claims is a world-first for a small family car, the new 308 will feature slim full-LED headlights in the majority of models. A "cockpit-style cabin" provides an intuitive driving experience, with a 9.7-inch touchscreen interface eliminating the need for many of the interior's usual buttons and switches.

The new 308 will be sold in the UK from January 2014.ADNFCR-2576-ID-801584737-ADNFCR
