The majority of mums enjoy the process of buying a car, according to research by leading used car website Carmony.co.uk, which may challenge the traditional view that women find buying intimidating.

More than 60 per cent of mothers questioned said that they like buying cars, with 44 per cent saying that reliability is the most important feature in a vehicle for the family.

Alan Hazelhurst, managing director of Carmony.co.uk, said that the website can help to take the mystery out of the car-buying process.

"To make searching for a new car even easier, at Carmony.co.uk we've created a simple, easy to use lifestyle search facility which matches users to a car based on their needs - be it room for the whole gang or boot space for the dog," he added.

Earlier this month, the website reported that searches for used Toyota cars are still popular, in spite of the bad press the manufacturer has received over its recent recalls.ADNFCR-2576-ID-19667170-ADNFCR
