Mercedes-Benz UK is celebrating after recording a 14.2 per cent rise in sales for April - figures which follow hot on the heels of a record-breaking first quarter for the manufacturer.

AMG, Mercedes-Benz's performance arm, posted an increase of 33.5 per cent in new UK registrations for April and an overall 71.3 per cent year-on-year improvement for 2013 so far. Achieving 1,000 sales in record time this year, AMG's best performers were the C63 AMG Coupe and C63 AMG Saloon.

The new E63 AMG recorded the single biggest rise in sales among Mercedes-Benz vehicles, with an increase of 460 per cent in April.

President and chief executive of Mercedes-Benz UK Marcus Breitschwerdt said the carmaker had enjoyed a good year so far and that the first three months of 2013 in particular had seen its "best ever results".

"These figures for April prove that both our UK passenger car and commercial vehicle operations continue to thrive through innovation, relevant products and great customer support," Mr Breitschwerdt added.ADNFCR-2576-ID-801582955-ADNFCR
