A new Mercedes-Benz estate car is said to offer "class-leading load space" as standard.

The carmaker said the new E-Class Estate also offers enhanced practicality, greater fuel efficiency and low CO2 emissions from just 150 g/km.

With the option of folding down the rear seats, the vehicle's load capacity becomes an impressive 1,950 litres as opposed to a maximum of 695 litres with the rear seats in place.

On the road prices for the new E-Class Estate start at £29,785 for the E 200 CGI BlueEfficiency model, while the top-of-the-range E 63 AMG will cost £73,855.

The E-Class Estate features all the standard safety features already incorporated into the E-Class Saloon, including the drowsiness detection system known as Attention Assist.

Earlier this week Mercedes-Benz won two gongs at the What Car? awards in London.

The Mercedes-Benz S-Class retained its title as best luxury car for the fourth year running and Attention Assist was given a safety award.
