Mercedes-AMG GT now available to order

Mercedes latest sports car, the Mercedes-AMG GT, is now open for orders in the UK. Available in GT, GT S and special GT S Edition 1 variants, the first examples will be hitting our shores in April 2015.

The AMG GT is offered with two power outputs: a gut-wrenching 462hp in the GT or an even more impressive 510hp in the GT S. The GT S can fire itself from 0-62mph in just 3.8seconds and has a top speed of 193mph.

The top spec GT S features 20-inch rear wheels, an electronically controlled rear differential, and AMG Ride Control sports suspension, which allows drivers to adjust the firmness of the ride at the flick of a switch.

The GT is only marginally slower than it’s sibling, accelerating from 0-62 mph in 4.0 seconds. It has the same 4.0-litre V8 that’s in the GT S, producing 600Nm of torque.

You wouldn’t call the GT basic, but it’s lacking slightly compared to the S. It still offers 19-inch wheels, a mechanical limited slip differential, a switchable AMG performance exhaust and Mercedes’ ‘COMAND Online’ infotainment system -complete with an 8.4-inch screen.

Inside there is a choice of AMG sport seats and track-orientated AMG performance seats, as standard on the GT S Edition 1 or costing £1,895 extra on other models.

The GT S Edition 1 is the most imposing on the road with a fixed rear wing and deep front splitter. High-gloss silver and black 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels, and carbon roof black accents on the Edition 1 hint this is something really rather special.

Prices start at £97,195 for the GT, £110,495 for the GT S and £122,745 for the GT S Edition 1. For an additional £4,195, Mercedes offers a ‘Premium Pack’ – including a reversing camera, a mirror package, a fixed panoramic sunroof and a powerful Burmester sound system.
