Kia has announced it achieved record sales volumes in June, shifting just under 6,000 cars throughout the month.

The carmaker shipped a total of 5,971 units, up by 17 per cent year on year, helping its year-to-date sales rise to 33,478 - an increase of 22.7 per cent when compared to the same time in 2011.

For June, the company's market share stood at 3.15 per cent, while across the whole of 2012, its share is even higher at 3.17 per cent.

Michael Cole, managing director of Kia Motors UK, said the manufacturer is expecting to sell around 65,000 vehicles this year, despite the challenging market conditions.

"With the recently launched New cee'd and with the New cee'd SW due here in the autumn, there is still plenty more to come from Kia in 2012," he added.

The announcement comes just a fortnight after Kia was named the best car manufacturer for 2012 in the Which? annual awards.ADNFCR-2576-ID-801402348-ADNFCR
