Peugeot cars are soon to be manufactured at a new plant in India, as the company builds a facility in the Indian state of Gujarat.

The plant, which is expected to span more than 600 acres, will provide thousands of jobs to the people of Sanand.

It forms part of PSA Peugeot-Citroen's target to reduce its reliance on advanced markets within Europe, as it aims to increase the number of car sales outside the continent.

Over the next four years, the firm anticipates having half its sales beyond Europe, as opposed to 38 per cent in the present day.

A total of €650 million (£569 million) is being invested in the facility, which should be operational by 2014.

Drivers of Peugeot cars were recently urged by the company to make sure of the speed limiter fitted to the majority of vehicles to help enhance road safety.ADNFCR-2576-ID-800720069-ADNFCR
