Honda has picked up the title of Britain's Greenest Car Brand.

This is after visitors to the UK's green motor show, EcoVelocity, were asked to pick the manufacturer they thought adhered best to environmentally-friendly principles.

Vauxhall, Nissan, Mia Electric and Toyota rounded out the top five.

However, despite coming out on top of the poll, Honda only ranked fifth when consumers were asked what car they are likely to buy in the next 12 months.

Instead, most motorists are planning to purchase a Vauxhall, with this manufacturer particularly liked by women.

Giles Brown, EcoVelocity managing director, noted the Vauxhall Ampera has been picked out as a very good green car.

"It's a vehicle that delivers a no compromise option for motorists wanting to purchase a greener and cleaner vehicle," he added.

Mr Brown went on to note that consumers who attended the event were influenced by the latest technology on show.ADNFCR-2576-ID-801421453-ADNFCR
