The Fiat 500L has achieved sales of nearly 34,000 units in Europe since being launched in late 2012, the carmaker has reported - becoming the only model in the mini MPV segment to post "constantly growing" sales on the continent.

Fiat intends to manufacture between 110,000 and 150,000 units at its Serbia plant in 2013, aiming to meet the demands of over 100 markets worldwide.

The announcement follows Fiat's inaugural shipment of 500L vehicles to the North American market, with 3,000 cars being delivered to customers in the US and Canada this month. Launches in the Asia-Pacific region are set to follow.

"These impressive figures confirm the great potential of the 500L," Fiat claimed, describing the vehicle as a "city lounge". The 500L features a class-leading passenger space index and has recently benefited from two new 105 HP engine configurations and a new Trekking model, which features raised suspension and front traction control.ADNFCR-2576-ID-801591329-ADNFCR
