Those taking to the roads in their family cars this weekend are being urged to plan ahead and be prepared for delays.

As schools get ready to break up for the autumn half term, driving group Trafficmaster is warning motorists of congestion blackspots.

It says Black Friday - the last day for pupils, which is this Friday, October 23rd - will be one of the worst days for congestion this year.

The time off from the classroom is the last chance for families to take a break together before Christmas, explains Graham Smith, data manager at Trafficmaster.

He explains that traffic will start to build from 10:00 on Friday and hit a peak after schools close around 15:00.

The return run from holidays on Sunday, November 1st is expected to make congestion worse in the afternoon, as drivers head home before the evening sets in.ADNFCR-2576-ID-19417391-ADNFCR
