Drivers take notice of winter warnings

New research suggests that drivers of approved used cars have heeded warning about preparing their vehicles for winter weather.

A survey conducted by GEM Motoring Assist has indicated that 73 per cent of motorists have taken action to ready their new and used cars for the onset of snow and ice.

This is in stark contrast to the results of the same survey conducted two years ago, which found exactly the opposite - three-quarters of drivers had done nothing to their car as winter set in.

David Williams MBE, chief executive of GEM Motoring Assist, said the results of this latest poll were very encouraging and showed that the message is finally getting through to UK motorists.

"We are delighted to see that attitudes towards driving in wintry conditions are changing and that there has been a significant increase in the number of people who are taking additional precautions," he said.

GEM Motoring Assist is an ardent supporter of the campaign to switch the UK's time zone to make evenings lighter.
