Audi updates A8 luxury car range

Audi has given its A8 luxury car range a facelift and boosted standard equipment levels, while also cutting emissions levels on this flagship saloon. SE Executive specification models now receive extra kit while Audi has introduced new Sport trim, which adds striking exterior styling details, that bring its styling into line with the range-topping S8 model.

The revised A8 continues to be available in standard and long wheelbase forms, with everything from economy-focused petrol-electric and diesel models to rapid 6.3-litre W12 and turbocharged 4.0-litre performance versions. The hybrid and W12 models are both available in long wheelbase form only, while other models are available with the shorter standard wheelbase body.

Diesel buyers can choose from two engines; a 258bhp 3.0-litre model – which is capable of 49.6mpg claimed economy and falls into the £145 car tax band – and a 4.2-litre V8 model that produces a substantial 380bhp, enough to power it to 62mph in a rapid 4.7 seconds, though it still returns strong official economy of 39.2mpg. At the other end of the range is the S8 sports model, which boasts a 513bhp turbocharged 4.0-litre petrol motor.

A8 buyers can choose from three specification levels – SE, SE Executive and Sport. All models include leather upholstery, double-glazed windows, a powerful 180-watt audio system, along with LED headlights and sat nav.

SE Executive models add a reversing camera, hands free bootlid operation, electric door closing, tinted rear windows and 22-way electrically adjustable front seats. Meanwhile, Sport models add 19-inch alloy wheels, a 600-watt Bose sound system and a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot. Long wheelbase W12 and S8 models feature even longer lists of standard equipment.

The updated A8 models are now available to order with Sport models available from June. UK deliveries start in the summer with prices starting at £59,585.
