Audi has released details of its new RS6 Avant and RS7 Sportback before they are arrive in showrooms early next year.

The German manufacturer claims that, despite the improved speed and performance, “the models retain the same best-in-class economy as their ‘standard’ equivalent”.

Available to order from November, customers will be taking delivery of the new models in February, with the RS6 Avant starting from £86,000 and the RS7 Sportback’s from £91,600.

The two new models are fitted with the 4.0 TFSI V8 biturbo, which gains an extra 45 horsepower to total at 605bhp. Both cars can sprint to 60mph in 3.7 seconds – 0.2 seconds faster than their predecessors.

Both the Avant and Sportback also boast the same top speed, which is limited to 155mph. However, this figure can be derestricted with the Dynamic Plus package, enabling the cars to hit 189mph.

Fitted with an eight-speed tiptronic transmission, the driver can choose from one manual gearbox or two automatic options: D and S.

In conjunction with the brand’s quattro four-wheel-drive system, Audi has fitted a sport differential on the rear axle as standard, helping to distribute torque to either the outside or inside tyre in order to achieve the best grip possible.

Audi’s RS super sports seats also come as standard, with a blue and black Alcantara and leather combination interior.
