Audi launches its fastest S8 yet

Audi has released the fastest ever version of its S8 in the shape of the 189mph S8 Plus. With a 4.0-litre V8 engine producing 597bhp, the S8 can reach 0-62 in a startling 3.8 seconds. The makes it faster than both the BMW 760i and Mercedes S 65 AMG.

Along with the power, the S8 Plus will features Sport Adaptive Air Suspension and a Dynamic Steering system to keep both handling and ride comfort in line with the horsepower on offer.

Power is fed to the road through an eight-speed tiptronic transmission and four-wheel drive Quattro technology. The whole package can be brought to a halt courtesy of carbon-fibre reinforced ceramic brakes, with anthracite-grey Audi embossed calipers.

With 21-inch alloys and a new rear spoiler, the S8 Plus is treated to exterior as well as mechanical modifications. Darkened tails lights and a gloss black grille come included, whilst a new matt paint called ‘Floret Silver’ will be offered too.

Inside, 22-way adjustable seats are fitted and trimmed in black leather with contrasting stitching.  These come alongside a 14-speaker BOSE surround sound system, privacy glass, adaptive cruise control and a power-operated hands-free bootlid. 

Up front the S8 Plus benefits from Matrix LED headlights, which can individually light or dim one of the 25 LEDs in each unit in order to project a broad stream of light without glaring motorists coming in the opposite direction.

Starting at £97,000 the S8 Plus will be available to order from October, with deliveries expected to begin in January 2016.
