All-new Kia Sportage teased before Frankfurt release

Kia Motors has revealed the first official images of its all new Sportage before its first public showing at the Frankfurt International Motor Show next month.

Building on the popularity of the previous generation Sportage, Kia has developed the design of the car by using sharp feature lines to create a sporty looking vehicle.

At the front of the car is Kia’s trademark ‘tiger-nose’ grille, which carries across from the previous–generation Sportage. Along with the grille comes headlamps that are designed to sweep back along the lines of the bonnet. This results in a much sportier looking car than the previous Sportage model, whilst retaining the features that make it instantly recognisable as a Kia.

A more raked roofline creates a more dramatic look, though whether or not this will affect rear headroom is yet to be seen. However, larger flared wheel arches point the Sportage in a more on-road direction than before.

The car will still be offered in two and four-wheel drive specifications, meaning that despite the dramatic styling, the Sportage should still be capable off-road too.

The design aspect of the new Sportage was first hinted at by the 2013 Kia Provo concept and that design has carried over to the model that we see in these photos.

The Sportage is one of Kia’s best-selling models, alongside the Cee’d and Picanto city cars. Kia has sold 47,064 examples of the Sportage SUV crossover since its launch in 2010. The Korean manufacturer will be hoping to build on this success with this all-new version.
