Volvo has announced that the 'last ever C30' competition has come to a successful conclusion, with a couple from Oxfordshire claiming the final car from the now-discontinued model lineup.

The competition commenced on June 13th and was carried out via Twitter, with participants required to tweet their locations followed by the #LastEverC30 hashtag.

According to Volvo, the highest number of entrants came from the east of England and the car was subsequently moved to a secret location in Clacton-on-Sea. Winners James and Christie McKenzie were subsequently required to solve a series of clues, leading them to the C30 minutes ahead of rival teams.

Their final task was to tweet @VolvoCarUK with the hashtag #GiveMeTheKeys and a photograph of the car.

"We first saw the C30 at a motorshow when it was launched and have wanted one ever since," said Ms McKenzie.

The competition "captured the nation's imagination", Volvo concluded, becoming the UK's top trending topic on the social media website.ADNFCR-2576-ID-801601598-ADNFCR
