Used Seat cars are a top choice for motorists who are on the lookout for great value vehicles, according to new research.

The Seat Leon, along with the Skoda Fabia, was found to hold its value better than other models, according to a study carried out by Used Car Expert website and magazine.

Editor Matt Tumbridge said buyers of used Seat cars and Skodas are "quids in", as the vehicles are "well-built" and reliable but their values depreciate less than more prestigious makes of car.

Although he did acknowledge that the aesthetics of a car are a subjective business, so of course some buyers may want to opt for the likes of a Volkswagen or Audi which sport a "higher quality of finish".

Meanwhile, Skoda has announced that it sold a record number of cars last year, achieving a 1.4 per cent increase on 2008's figures.
