The Toyota RAV4 has garnered the praise of motoring critic and television personality Jeremy Clarkson.
Writing for the Sunday Times, he suggested that the latest version of the vehicle is "remarkably competent".
"This is a car that can be used on the farm and on the road and on the school run and for trips to the megastore," Mr Clarkson commented.
Referring to the Toyota RAV4 SR 2.2 D-4D, he stated that it does everything the motorist would expect of a small off-road vehicle, adding that it will "last ages" because it was manufactured in Japan.
Used Toyota cars were recently singled out by autodriver.com as offering great value.
The website said this is the case because by purchasing a used Toyota, buyers are able to acquire a higher-spec model than if they opted for a brand-new vehicle.
Even when buying relatively cheap new cars, it still costs extra to acquire all the mod cons, the website added.
