Toyota's recall programme 'is on track'

Drivers of Toyota used cars may be reassured to learn that, one month after the manufacturer announced its accelerator recall campaign, work has been completed on more than half of the vehicles identified as needing attention.

Some 90,000 cars have received treatment from the manufacturer, while an even larger proportion of recalled Prius models have undergone adjustment to their braking software programme.

Miguel Fonseca, managing director of Toyota GB, said that despite the bad press the brand has received from the widely-publicised recall, it still experienced record retail sales in February, suggesting that used Toyota drivers are not being dissuaded.

"Our thanks go to our customers who continue to be supportive and have confidence in the Toyota brand, and to everyone in the Toyota family, from head office to the workshops, who have all worked together to maintain a high level of service quality," he said.

The Toyota Prius saw 538 sales in the UK last month, after the model was ranked highest in satisfaction and reliability surveys around the world.ADNFCR-2576-ID-19672340-ADNFCR
