One of the most technologically-advanced Toyota cars is to make its European debut at the Geneva Motor Show.

The EV (electric vehicle) Prototype is inspired by the iQ model with an electric powertrain based on the award-winning Hybrid Synergy Drive system.

This helps the vehicle achieve zero exhaust emissions, while it can cover up to 65 miles between charges, thanks to the development of a new lithium-ion battery.

After putting the vehicle through road tests this year, the Japanese manufacturer wants to bring the vehicle to the market in 2012.

"Toyota has already announced its plans to bring the car to market in the USA and is also investigating its viability in other regions," he said.

Other Toyota cars coming to the event include the concept hybrid Yaris and the new Prius Plus, which will be Europe's first seven-seat full hybrid when it reaches the market later this year.
