Toyota pushes low-emission models as congestion charge changes

Following last week's announcement that London congestion charge exemptions are to change, Toyota has advised motorists on the models they can purchase before July and still be eligible for discounts.

From July 1st, the current Greener Vehicle Discount (GVD) will be discontinued in favour of a new Ultra Low Emission Discount (ULED), reducing the upper limit of CO2 emissions from 100 g/km to 75 g/km before a car can be exempted from the charge.

Drivers who register for the GVD before the change can enjoy a further three years' discount. This includes a number of low-emission and hybrid Toyota and Lexus cars, including several models from the Toyota Prius range and some versions of the Lexus CT 200h.

Among the low-emission Toyota cars is the Prius Plug-in, which will qualify for the ULED due to its CO2 emissions of just 49 g/km - meaning motorists in London can expect it to be charge-exempt for the foreseeable future.ADNFCR-2576-ID-801578172-ADNFCR
