Toyota Prius to receive 'LED treatment'

Prius Toyota cars are set to be made available with a new LED Tech Pack option for customers, which will boost the environmental credentials of the vehicles further.

The Prius is the car manufacturer's flagship hybrid vehicle, but there have been calls from consumers for LED enhancements to headlights.

Toyota's new option is available for the Prius T Spirit and includes LED headlights, as well as dusk sensing functions for washers and auto-dimming rear view mirror technology.

The LED headlights are fitted as standard to the new Prius and can cut electricity consumption by 30 per cent as well as lasting longer and illuminating quicker than alternative lamps.

The pack also includes water-repellent treatment on the front and side window glass.

New Prius Toyota cars were used to provide free journeys to lucky competition winners in London last week, as part of private hire service greentomatocars' delivery.

The London firm's initiative is in the spirit of newly-qualified cabbies not charging their first fare after passing "The Knowledge".
