Third of accidents involve driving for work

One in three road traffic accidents involve somebody using a company car or the victim driving a privately-owned new or used car on company business.

Ultimate Car Control (UCC) has highlighted the fact that businesses have many obligations when managing their fleets, but few firms are in a position to believe that risk is being managed effectively.

The company has launched a driver safety programme designed to help smaller businesses understand their obligation to employees who drive and include details about how to conduct the necessary risk assessments and the use of employer and driver policy handbooks.

Former British touring car champion and UCC founder Rob Gravett said that the programme is designed to boost safety and compliance.

He said: "Many businesses have already started working toward driver safety compliance although, often, businesses need assistance in understanding fully what the law requires them to do and completing the process."

Professionals who will be driving this winter have been advised by the Institute of Advanced Motorists to fully prepare themselves for the cold weather in order to reduce the risk of accidents.ADNFCR-2576-ID-801215973-ADNFCR
