Mercedes has released details of its range-topping AMG S 65 Cabriolet.

Powered by a 6.0-litre V12 biturbo engine, it produces 630bhp and a staggering 1,000 Nm of torque. This means that the S 65 can go from 0-62mph in just 4.1 seconds and on to an electronically limited top speed of 186mph.

While the engine is the focus point of the S 65, it also incorporates such luxuries as a neck-level heating system, heated armrests and intelligent climate control.

Tobias Moers, chairman of Mercedes-AMG GmbH said: “The customer base for our V21 biturbo engine expects the ultimate in every aspect. That is why we are offering a four-seater high-performance convertible with this legendary power unit for the first time.

“The new S 65 Cabriolet sets benchmarks for all relevant criteria: top performance, a breathtaking driving experience and exquisite appointments.”

The S 65 features sports seats finished in nappa leather, with front seats that can be electronically adjusted. The climate control also detects when the roof has been lowered, meaning that the driver doesn’t need to change heating modes when they decide to lower the roof.

This particular car also rides on AIRMATIC air sports suspension, which provides the very best ride whatever the surface. Intelligent drive systems incorporate PRE-SAFE systems that can detect pedestrians should they step into the road, as well as Active Lane Keeping Assist and Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus.

These technologies work together to keep the driver of the S 65 as safe as possible, as well as being able to detect oncoming collisions.
