Sales of Mercedes cars have spiked sharply in the first month of 2011, it has been revealed.
The German manufacturer claims that it has made a record-breaking start to the year, with its largest ever share of the January UK car market.
Compared to the first month of 2010, sales of Mercedes cars rose by 25 per cent last month, helping it to capture four per cent of the market overall.
Gary Savage, managing director of Mercedes-Benz Cars, said that these figures are representative of a truly outstanding sales performance.
"What's more it continues our record-breaking market share set last year and has been achieved even before we introduce our improved new generation C-Class models," he said.
The C-Class introduction will begin in March. All the vehicles in the range have been given a modern styling, while fuel consumption has been reduced by 31 per cent thanks to the introduction of new engines.
