The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter has been honoured at the annual Motor Transport Awards, where it received the Fleet Van of the Year award - the eighth time it has done so since the category was introduced 11 years ago.

Michael Kamper, managing director of commercial vehicles at Mercedes-Benz, accepted the award at London's Grosvenor House Hotel last week. He described it as "another outstanding achievement" for the Sprinter.

The van was commended for its fuel economy, safety equipment and reliability - and Mercedes-Benz's dedicated dealer network was also singled out for praise.

Mr Kamper commented: "It's important for us to deliver a best in class ownership experience via the passionate people at Mercedes-Benz who turn the brand promise into reality, every day."

Judges were also particularly impressed with the van's Adaptive Electronic Stability Program, which helps the driver maintain control of the vehicle regardless of how light or heavy its load is.ADNFCR-2576-ID-801610048-ADNFCR
