McLaren has revealed details of its incredible 675LT Spider and its figures are almost as breath taking as its looks.

The 675LT Spider or ‘Long Tail’ is limited to just 500 examples worldwide, and is only the second McLaren in history to wear the iconic LT badge.

Powered by a 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8, the Spider produces 666bhp and 700Nm of torque, which enables it to reach 62mph in just 2.9 seconds and can carry onwards to a top speed of 203mph.

The retracting hardtop – which distinguishes the Spider from the Coupe, can be operated at speeds of up to 19mph. Incredibly, no further strengthening was required after the roof was removed, mostly down to the strength that comes from the carbon fibre MonoCell chassis.

The Spider shares its suspension set up with the Coupe, although the front end of the car utilises new springs and the track has been increased by 20mm. The 675LT Spider features 19-inch front wheels and 20-inch rears, with all wrapped in Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tyres.

Prices start at an astonishing £285,450, with exclusive ‘Solis’ paintwork and 20-spoke lightweight forged alloy wheels being offered for the first time on a McLaren.

The 675LT Coupe is the fifth new model to be launched McLaren this year, alongside the P1 GTR, 570S Coupe, 540C Coupe and the 675LT Coupe.

Deliveries to customers will begin in the summer of 2016.
