The Mazda CX-5 now comes with Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) fitted as standard.

Euro NCAP has praised the manufacturer for taking the decision to introduce the measure on the model, which was already highly rated before the roll out of Smart City Brake Support.

Indeed, the safety agency has called on all car makers to fit AEB in their vehicles by 2014 in an effort to improve the safety of road users.

Mazda head of fleet Steve Tomlinson said: "Road risk management is a key issue for fleet operators. Mazda is ahead of many other manufacturers in terms of making vital safety-focused technology accessible."

He added more and more fleet managers will be tempted to get the CX-5 because of the guaranteed quality the car brings.

Research by Euro NCAP discovered 79 per cent of cars on sale in Europe at the moment do not offer AEB, while 66 per cent of manufacturers do not have any models with the measure.ADNFCR-2576-ID-801421954-ADNFCR
