Lexus cars have been making the transition from reliable petrol vehicles to reliable hybrids in 2010, the year of its 20th anniversary.

In an article for the Daily Mirror, Top Gear presenter and all round petrol head Richard Hammond explained that it has been two decades since the Lexus LS400 arrived in the UK.

He writes: "Lexus had a mountain to climb because it was a new brand, but fortunately the cars were brilliantly made and very reliable."

This year has seen Lexus cars go from strength to strength.

In May, Lexus unveiled the GS 450h full hybrid saloon. This was shortly followed by launch of the new CT 200h full hybrid in August.

Later that month, Lexus unveiled a revised IS 200d model with improved fuel economy and lower CO2 emissions.

The Lexus car's engine was also revised to 148bhp delivered by a 2.2-litre engine with diesel particulate filter and six-speed manual transmission.ADNFCR-2576-ID-800299155-ADNFCR
