Ford has revealed the details of its all-new Edge SUV.

With space for up to five passengers, as well as increased levels of equipment and safety, Ford hopes that the Edge will be just as popular as its Kuga and EcoSport models.

The Edge is available in three trim levels – Zetec, Titanium and Sport, with all-wheel drive, Active Noise Control and Ford DAB Audio coming among a host of other technologies as standard.

On the outside, there’s privacy glass and 19-inch alloy wheels, along with 10 exterior colour option choices including the all-new Electric Spice and Bronze Fire colourways.

Underneath the bonnet, drivers can choose from a 2.0-litre diesel engine with a six-speed manual gearbox, or a more powerful 2.0-litre bi-turbo diesel engine with a six-speed automatic ‘PowerShift’ transmission.

Both engines are reported to deliver 48.7mpg, while emitting 149g/km of CO2. The Edge also incorporates start stop technology which helps increase the car’s economy.

Andy Barratt, chairman and managing director for Ford of Britain said: “The introduction of the stylish Ford Edge SUV is another incredibly exciting moment for Ford and its dealers.

“Joining performance products like Mustang and Focus RS and new luxury products like Mondeo Vignale already in showrooms, the Edge makes the Ford product line-up for 2016 never stronger.”
