The Ford Focus has now reached the 1.5 million sales mark.

In ten of the last 14 years, the vehicle has emerged on top as the overall sales leader as well, which highlights the continued popularity of the model.

Indeed, the 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol powertrain - which offers best-in-class petrol CO2 emissions of 109g/km - accounted for 17 per cent of all Focus purchases in April, the first month of its release.

Essex County Cricket Club batsman Jaik Mickleburgh is taking delivery of the landmark motor and he noted the machine always delivers an enjoyable experience when he has to drive home after competing.

"One feature I like is heated seats, which soothe away aches after playing," he added.

"I have had four Fords in the four years since passing my test - three of them were the latest Focus models."

The Ford Escape will shortly hit the market and it is set to be the most fuel-efficient small SUV available. ADNFCR-2576-ID-801359192-ADNFCR
