Ford drivers are the most polite on the road, according to new research.

The study was carried out by MoneySupermarket.com and found people with Fords are the most likely to indicate, give fellow motorists plenty of room and let them out at junctions.

Audi, Peugeot, Vauxhall and Citroen drivers were also found to be courteous when behind the wheel.

In terms of being ill-mannered, white van men came top of the poll, while owners of Range Rovers, Land Rovers and Mercedes' featured prominently.

Peter Harrison, car insurance expert at MoneySupermarket.com, remarked: "Few people can claim to be a model driver all the time and this survey shows which car drivers are closer to being perfect than others."

He added it is clear people associate bad driving habits with certain models of cars, which shows that individuals notice poor manners.

However, motorists should always seek to be polite to other road users. ADNFCR-2576-ID-801372513-ADNFCR
