Audi has announced prices and specifications for the second generation of its R8 supercar, which will be available in V10 and even more potent V10 Plus form.

Audi’s performance range-topper produces a whopping 602bhp in ‘Plus’ form. With a top speed of 205mph and the ability to sprint to 62mph in a rapid 3.2 seconds and from a standstill to 124mph in an equally impressive 9.9 seconds, the R8 V10 Plus takes the title as the fastest and most powerful road car in Audi’s history.

The updated R8 will feature powerful all-LED headlamps as well as rear indicators that feature a scrolling function, pointing in the direction that drivers are manouevring. Both models will be fitted with 19-inch wheels with the V10 Plus boasting ceramic brake discs that offer the stopping power to match its extra muscle.

The new R8 also gains Audi’s virtual cockpit digital dashboard, first seen on the new Audi TT, which replaces traditional dials with a customisable screen that can display driving data as well as other functions including sat nav and entertainment.

The media system also offers an integrated Wi-Fi hotspot. Other features include a front and rear park assist system while buyers can personalise the interior design of their car to suit their tastes with customisable trim.

All new R8 drivers will also receive a complimentary Audi Driving Experience at Silverstone, enabling them to learn their car and push it harder than they can on the road.

The R8 will be available to order from May with the first cars being delivered towards the end of the year. Prices start at £119,500 for the standard V10 version and £137,500 for the ‘Plus’ model.
