Used car drivers offered new Vauxhall Swappage Scheme
Vauxhall scrappage scheme launched
Drivers of used cars are being offered the chance to purchase a discounted new Vauxhall.
The carmaker has launched Vauxhall Swappage, which is similar to the government-run scrappage scheme that is nearing its end.
Under Vauxhall Swappage, motorists can trade in their roadworthy used cars aged at least seven years old and in return they will be given at least £3,000 off the price of a new Astra, Astra Sport Hatch or Corsa.
There is no upper age limit on the used cars being traded in but the motorist must have owned the car for at least 90 days.
Commenting on the new scheme, Vauxhall's retail sales director Rory Harvey said it "not only increases the amount of discount off selected Vauxhalls from £2,000 to at least £3,000, but it also widens the net to cars over seven years old, compared with ten years plus in the old, government-backed scheme".
Meanwhile, Skoda has announced that certain models of its cars are available at VAT-free prices until the end of March.
