Toyota reaches 400k hybrid cars in Europe

A total of 400,000 hybrid Toyota cars have now been delivered to European customers.

The landmark vehicle rolled off the production line at the company's Burnaston factory in Derbyshire, where the Auris Hybrid has been manufactured since 2010.

Michel Gardel, vice-president of communication, external and environmental affairs at Toyota Motor Europe, said the company is very proud to have reached the landmark sales figure for environmentally friendly vehicles.

"It shows that European customers are not only ready to consider a hybrid vehicle purchase but for Toyota, they have been doing so in large numbers – in fact ten per cent of our sales in Europe were hybrid vehicles last year," he said.

The deputy managing director of Toyota Motor Manufacturing UK, Tony Walker, added that the sales figures are good news for UK manufacturing.ADNFCR-2576-ID-801277445-ADNFCR
