Toyota honoured for environmental commitment
People looking for a used Toyota may be confident cars from the manufacturer will be eco-friendly, as the brand has been rewarded for its leadership on environmental issues.
The company has been given a 2012 Fleet Hero Award from the Energy Saving Trust in recognition of its efforts to improve the green credentials of its products.
As well as its initiatives to reduce fuel consumption and carbon emissions across its range of vehicles, the Japanese firm was praised for its efforts across all areas of its business.
Manager for corporate and social affairs at Toyota Thomas Roselle, who accepted the honour at a ceremony in London last week, said the company was "delighted" to receive the accolade.
He added: "We hope that the measures we put in place in our operations and their proven effectiveness in cutting emissions, energy usage and costs might also inspire others to look at how they can achieve similar benefits."
The Energy Saving Trust is not the only organisation to have rewarded Toyota for its environmental initiatives, as the company was named the world's greenest brand for the second year running earlier in 2012 by consultancy firm Interbrand.
