Toyota car fans to be reassured

The president of the Toyota Motor Corp has today (March 8th) vowed to restore the faith of the brand's fans in its products.

Akio Toyoda told Japanese prime minister Yukio Hatoyama that those who have enjoyed used Toyota cars in the past will be able to do so in the future thanks to an improvement in its quality control operations.

The firm recently suffered a blow after 8.5 million units were recalled due to problems with accelerator pedals, floor mats and brakes.

Mr Toyoda claimed that sales for the company will be back up in certain regions by March after new incentives were put in place.

"I told him that we are going to strive to build better cars so people will say Toyota is once again a more transparent and customer-focused company," he told reporters after the meeting.

The Toyota Verso recently attained a five-star rating in the 2010 Euro NCAP safety performance test programme, scoring 89 per cent for Adult Occupancy, 75 per cent for Child Occupancy and 86 per cent for Safety Assistance.ADNFCR-2576-ID-19660114-ADNFCR
