Subaru Impreza hatchback takes MSN Cars handling award

Subaru cars have excelled in the latest handling tests carried out by MSN Cars.

The new all-wheel drive Impreza hatchback was pitted against rivals from BMW, Honda and Volkswagen, Subaru notes.

Each vehicle was tested separately on track conditions that varied from moist to saturated and were assessed on the ability recover a skid and handle a slalom course.

The vehicles also had to accelerate from a standing start, a test which the Impreza also excelled in.

MSN Cars said that the vehicle did remarkably well considering it doesn't use traction or stability control.

"This is a car you could drive through the middle of a snow blizzard and emerge out the other side … the all-wheel drive did the job from an icy standing-start, as well as the other test situations," it stated.

A selection of Subaru cars will continue to benefit from just 17.5 per cent VAT until the end of this month, the company has confirmed.
